Courier Mail (or Sunday Mail) Article

Courier mail reporter, Kay Dibben, telephoned me on Tuesday 31st August 2010 after reading the decision on the QCAT web site. She sent her photographer out today (Wednesday 1st September 2010). She telephoned me to say she hoped to have the story ready for this weekend - not sure which day.

If I can I'll place the story on this site.

Fair Go  for Responsible Queensland Dog Owners

How you can help

Shep versus Brisbane City Council

I'm building this web site as a result of my encounters with the Brisbane City Council in relation to the issuing of a "Menacing Dog Declaration" in relation to my dog, Shep.

Before this matter I was basically unaware of the "dog laws".

Now that the decision has been made there are some massive problems relating to the maladministration of these laws by the Brisbane City council. They come under the legal topic of "Administrative Law". A related aspect is their honesty.

There are also some serious questions about the competency of QCAT. They seem to be another government review body mainly prepared to "rubber stamp" bureaucratic decisions. I'm quite prepared to defend these comments by reference to my case, and in the fullness of time I will.

Quite obviously the BCC are going to be vindictive to me. There is another "Personal Infringement Notice" sitting in limbo. I guess that will surface in the near future.

I sense that there are many dog owners who agree with me. The rectification of these matters requires dog owners to have sufficient courage to stand up for their rights.

There are two basic ways dog owners can change the maladministration associated with these matters:

  1. Legal challenges when they are penalised.

  2. Lobbying to have the legislation changed.

As time goes by I'll expand this web site and maybe some interested association might take up the cause.
